Segra’s molecular biology lab has conducted over 15,000 HLVd tests across our nursery and partner inventories. Our scientifically validated RT-PCR assay was developed in-house by Segra scientists and is run in our own lab in Richmond, BC — not outsourced.
Our fast and simple “tool-free” sample collection method eliminates the need to sterilize scissors between samples, while still reducing the risk of cross-contamination between plants. In the lab, our rapid testing protocol ensures lab results are returned within 3 business days of receiving samples.
HLVd spreads easily through contaminated tools, plant handling, and insect vectors — and may not cause visible symptoms until after onset of flowering. That’s why the most common mechanism of transfer is from non-symptomatic infected mother plants to clones, which can result in rapid spread throughout your grow area.
