OUR STORY

Segra is a company invested in the revolution of ag-tech for the cannabis industry. Founded on the belief that better cannabis starts with better plants. As a global leader in Plant Tissue Culture (PTC), an established method for creating disease-free, true-to-type super plantlets at commercial scale. Segra has brought this proven agricultural technique to the cannabis industry to help growers grow better plants with greater efficiency. Founded in 2014, we have achieved significant milestones in support of the rapidly maturing cannabis industry.

Pioneers in Cannabis PTC Plantlets

YEARS OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LED TO THE RELEASE OF SEGRA’S INDUSTRY-FIRST CANNABIS PLANTLET.

Plant Tissue Culture is a four-stage process (initiation, multiplication, rooting, and acclimation.) “Stage III plantlets” are tiny laboratory produced young plants that have roots, but still require some acclimation prior to planting. Stage III Plantlets are well established in horticulture as a superior product over conventional vegetative propagation, offering better control of pathogens and greater crop uniformity. Many years of dedicated research and development has led to the release of Segra’s industry-first cannabis plantlet product in 2020. Segra’s Stage III Plantlets are available in a variety of sizes and packaging formats for both Canadian and international shipping.

The First Definitive Cannabis DNA test

SEGRA’S DNA FINGERPRINTING CREATES A POWERFUL NEW TOOL.

Segra’s industry-first DNA fingerprinting test is useful for cannabis farmers, distributors, regulators, brands, distributors, and breeders. This assay has two general purposes of use. First, this test represents a low-cost high-throughput solution for the verification of cultivar genetic identity associated with supply chain management. Additionally, the test represents a powerful tool to help guide a plant breeders decision making matrix by prescreening large volumes of genotypes for relational phylogenic grouping purposes prior to more detailed (expensive) genomic analysis.
